Be empowered to make a difference.

Homelessness can be complex, confronting, and awkward, and everyday Australians can feel helpless to solve it.
But for 35+ years we’ve been building communities where people like you can actually make a difference. By joining The Neighbourhood, you’ll be part of a passionate community making monthly donations, building safe places to call home and loving communities with people at risk of homelessness.

Live a more meaningful and connected life.

Thanks to this community, Brent has celebrated 6 years drug-free, and is studying to help others with drug and alcohol addiction.
At 16, Brent became homeless when mental health issues and substance abuse strained his family relationships. After 20 years, and too many nights sleeping out in the cold, Brent became a resident with Servants. He needed more than just a bed to sleep in. Battling substance addiction and taking care of mental health takes connection, and a group of people willing to lean into ongoing relationship with you.

Before moving in with Servants, Brent found housing uncertainty draining. “It’s always on your mind. You think, “where am I going to sleep that’s going to be warm and safe? When am I going to get my next meal?”.

But as a resident with Servants, he has the peace of mind that comes from safe accommodation, and the stability to repair his family relationships. He’s even studying a Diploma in Social science to become a youth drug and alcohol counsellor, “so they don’t have to go through the same experience I went through’.
